About Signapse

Signapse is an exciting and fast-growing funded startup that is bringing together AI and Sign Language. Our technology is grounded in world-leading computer vision research developed at the University of Surrey. Our AI product is being used with a number of major global brands that bring life-enhancing benefits to sign language users and we already have significant contracts. Signapse is now onto its next phase and this is the holy grail: unconstrained translation for sign language. We are halfway there and due to new contract wins and technical progress, need to bring a very talented individual into our growing team.

Job Requirements

  • A native and fluent user of British Sign Language
  • Excellent track record in people management and training
  • Technologically astute, able to use a broad range of established and emerging platforms
  • Experience in working to a high professional standard across internal and external teams
  • Able to translate English/BSL accurately and at speed in your home environment

Personal Requirements

  • NRCPD registered
  • Experience in presenting in sign language and sign language annotation

Example Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the management of sign language inputs - this will be BSL and ASL initially, moving to other sign languages when it is the right time for Signapse. You will not be expected to know these languages but manage relationships with country specialists.
  • Review and approve translations and annotations of English text to BSL.
  • Support the Head of Translations and Data in their role.
  • Deliver translations of English to BSL for clients when manual translations are required.
  • Engage with automation and latest internal and external R+D wherever possible to ensure processes are rapid and value for money.

Hours

This is a full-time position of 5 days a week, with normal virtual office hours of 9am to 6pm, although flexibility is offered to suit reasonable personal circumstances. What matters most to
us is strong work ethic, teamwork and delivery of high quality output.
