The Problem

While CVG embraced various technologies to improve airport operations, accessibility for Deaf passengers remained a challenge. Existing communication methods did not adequately cater to the needs of American Sign Language (ASL) users, limiting their access to critical information such as flight updates and safety announcements.

The Selection

In partnership with Signapse, CVG embarked on a new chapter in accessibility and innovation. Signapse introduced an innovative solution to integrate ASL into the airport’s infrastructure. This initiative aimed to enhance accessibility by displaying welcome messages and general information in ASL on screens located in high-traffic areas, visible to all passengers.

The Implementation

Signapse's technology was first deployed at CVG to provide live ASL updates on airport tram departure and safety information, enhancing the travel experience for all passengers, including those who are Deaf or hard of hearing. The integration of ASL messages on screens represents a significant advancement in accessibility within the aviation industry.
